Marvel Studios is proceeding with the Black Panther 2, but they will not recast Chadwick Boseman's King T'Challa.

According to the Marvel Studios boss, Kevin Feige, the sequel will pay tribute to both the character and the late actor and rely on other characters that appeared in the last film. Feige confirmed this during Disney's Investor Day Presentation held on 11th December 2020. Further Disney announced, "There will be only one T'Challa."

Marvel was working on a Black Panther sequel immediately after the first film hit the theatres in 2018, with Ryan Coogler quickly signing in to Write and Direct the second film. But Black Panther 2 was put into question after Boseman's devastating death earlier this year (August 28, 2020), at the age of 43 (Only one month was left for his 44th Birthday.), following a long battle with colon cancer. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has worked on recasting its superhero roles before like this, but the Marvel fans were quick to denounce the idea of recasting King T'Challa, mentioning Boseman's powerful performance and stating that they only want Chadwick as their King.

Black Panther 2 is scheduled to be released on 08th July of 2022.

Most of the last film's actors and actresses such as Letitia WrightLupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett are expected to return, even though their participation is yet to be confirmed.

More details about the film will be announced closer to the sequel's release date.

Now, it remains to see how Marvel will continue the Black Panther franchise and to wait till the Black Panther 2 hit the theatres in 2022 (Quite a massive number of days to go...).
